My friend David and I were walking along a Saigon street at about 9PM, moving from one bar to another. We had recently met, he was referred to me as a guy to talk to “about doing IT business in Vietnam,” a topic I am exploring. We hit it off well, and went from meeting for a coffee, to dinner and drinks on the town.
A woman approached us from the opposite direction, and tried to latch on to David and offer “massage and boom boom,” an all-too-familiar occurrence around here. He brushed her off, and we thought nothing of it. We crossed a street, took a turn, continued on our way, when I noticed the SAME woman approaching us again. My NYC street senses were a bit piqued here.
This time she latched on to me, offered the same thing. I first said no politely, then as she latched on more, I pushed away. At that point, she grabbed my <ahem> package, so I pushed away even more. She put my <ifyaknowwhatImean> package in a vice grip, so I *really* pushed away hard as an act of self preservation (and preservation of potential progeny).
As I wondered “why does she think destroying my testicles will convince me of a massage,” I noticed her other hand was removing my iphone from my left pocket. She got it out and had it in her hand.
I grit through the pain and wrestled her for the phone (I still had 2 hands, one of hers was occupied). She was forced to let go of my jewels, thankfully. And, thankfully, at the same time I wrestled the phone out of her hand and got it back.
She walked away from me backwards like a prison inmate, grinning the whole time, and jumped on the back of a waiting motorbike . David was telling me, “Don’t even talk to her, just come on…” He was 10 steps ahead of me, and totally unaware of what was going on.
I caught up to him, and explained to him what had just happened. He reached into his pocket, and figured out that his phone was gone. That thieving bitch.

This has been bothering me for days….pork does not deserve the bad rap that “Swine Flu” is giving it. Thank goodness world leaders are finally addressing this critical issue.

First of all, I am extremely disappointed not to have been invited to judge. I am, after all, *The* Pork Authority (note the URL in your browser window, need you more proof?)
After this, I am considering just shutting theporkauthority down. These guys have set the standard, and the bar just may be too high for me. I can’t believe San Fran is beating us out on this. It may be time to go expat.

While I don’t mind the industrial agricultural aspects of their operation taking a hit, I selfishly hope this doesn’t effect the availability of country ham biscuits come Christmas this year.
